COVID Protocols

The Board is committed to following the Contra Costa County Health Department guidelines for opening pools and outdoor picnic areas. We are following a conservative approach to managing the pool opening and expect all members to work together to maintain a safe environment.

Oak Grove Swim Club is a 100%-member owned club, which means we are all owners (and each family has a responsibility for doing their part). If you see something that needs to be fixed or cleaned and you have the ability, please do it or notify the gatekeeper on duty or one of the board members.

The following are member requirements and club restrictions to keep our pool open following the CCC Health guidelines. These rules may change at any time as new information becomes available. If you have any questions, please email one of the board members. We are so very thankful that we will be able to use the pool this summer and we appreciate your help in following these rules to make sure the pool can remain open for the entire swim season.

  1. Always follow the CDC guidelines to prevent spreading COVID-19. Cover mouth when coughing or sneezing, wash hands frequently, avoid touching your face, and stay home if you or a member of your household is feeling ill.

  2. Masks are recommended for unvaccinated people who are gathered with other families outside the pool but are not allowed in the pool as they are a hazard when wet. Lifeguards may wear masks but are not required to do so. Only lifeguards are authorized to provide first aid assistance.

  3. The front gate will remain open when the pool is open to reduce the need for multiple members touching the doorknob. Gatekeepers will ensure that small children do not enter or leave the premises without adult supervision.

  4. Gatekeeper will wipe down the mouse and keyboard at the beginning of their shift. Spray the cleaner on the paper towel and wipe. Do not spray cleaner on the computer directly. Hand sanitizer will be available at the gatekeeper desk for gatekeeper and members to use.

  5. Members will stand 6 feet apart and behind the line when checking in or checking out with the gatekeeper.

  6. All members must check in and check out with the gatekeeper. The health department requires we know who is on the premises in case of an emergency.

  7. The front gate will remain open when the pool is open to reduce the need for multiple members touching the doorknob. Gatekeepers will ensure that small children do not enter or leave the premises without adult supervision.

  8. All children under the age of 10 must be supervised by an adult member. This includes a nanny or babysitter that is listed on the member’s eSoft account under childcare providers. Adults are responsible for enforcing the 6-foot social distancing requirement with their children.

  9. To maintain pool capacity, social distancing, and to allow unlimited access for our members, GUESTS will be limited to four guest per membership. If a member brings a guest to the pool and fraudulently signs them in under the name of a family member, their membership will be suspended for one week. If it happens a second time, the membership will be suspended for the remainder of the swim season.

  10. Family members must be listed on your account to be allowed in the pool area. Please email membership@oakgroveswim.com if you have a new member of your household that needs to be added. Please include full name, date of birth and relationship (daughter, son, grandparent).

  11. Deck chairs have been placed in small groups. It is the responsibility of the member to clean the OGSC chair they wish to use, or you are welcome to bring your own chair(s) from home. Please bring your own wipes if you prefer a certain kind. There are cleaning supplies including spray bottles and paper towels available at the club for your use. Soap and water are available in the restrooms to wash your hands.

  12. The maximum number of people allowed IN the pool will be determined by current CCC guidelines and may change throughout the swim season. The current capacity level is 80 swimmers.

  13. Lifeguards will control the number of people in the pool by calling a rest period and enacting a reasonable pool sharing system, which may limit the length of time swimmers may remain in the pool. Members are expected to respect the sharing protocols and ensure that their children follow any rules outlined by the lifeguards.

  14. In the pool, swimmers should remain on the shallow side of the ladders in the deep end when others are using the diving board.

  15. Bathrooms will remain open. Please wipe down areas that you touch prior to leaving the bathroom.

  16. Picnic tables will be available. Members are responsible for cleaning the picnic tables before and after using them.

  17. BBQs will be available, but can only be used by one household at a time. Members will clean the BBQs after using them.

  18. OGSC cannot provide shared toys or fins. You can bring your own for your family to enjoy.  Please take them home with you each day.

  19. We are selling snacks, but we will not be handling cash at the club. If you plan to purchase snacks, please put money on your account via Venmo @oakgrovesswim or send a check to the PO Box to be deposited to your account. We are no longer accepting credits cards due to the high cost. Gatekeeper will get the snacks from the refrigerator and freezer to reduce multiple people touching the door handles. Gatekeeper will clean the refrigerator door handle at the beginning of their shift.

  20. Private reserved parties are allowed at the club Monday through Thursday with a maximum guest count of 20.

  21. We are not limiting the number of members allowed in the club grounds since we have a large property where people can spread out. Members can use the grass area outside the pool area for their family as well. If we see this is becoming a problem, we may address this differently in the future.

  22. We have taken enhanced health and safety measures for you and our employees. You must follow all the procedures and posted instructions at the club. Any inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public or shared space when people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. By visiting the club, you voluntarily assume all risks related to the exposure to COVID-19.
